with your Heim?

The Heim is 15¾" (400 mm) wide at the top of the bowl. The body tapers to about 11¾" (300 mm) at the base, so it sits slimmer at floor level.

Plan for side clearance too: most US plumbing codes call for at least 15" from the center of the toilet to a side wall or fixture.

The Heim is 26¾" (680 mm) deep, from the finished wall to the front of the seat. It needs a standard 12" (305 mm) rough-in: the distance from the finished wall (not the baseboard) to the center of the drain.

Measure yours before ordering. If it's 10" or 14", talk to your plumber first.

The Heim stands 20" (510 mm) tall with the lid closed, and the seat height is 15¾" (400 mm) from the floor.

The Heim is a fixed appliance designed for professional installation, and we recommend a licensed plumber (plus an electrician if you need a new outlet). If you'd rather do it yourself, read the full manual first, follow your local plumbing and electrical codes, and have a second person help lift the toilet.

You'll need a drill, caulking gun, Teflon tape, utility knife, marker, wrench, flat and Phillips screwdrivers, a tape measure and a few towels.

The toilet flange isn't included. Use only the new hoses and parts in the box; old hoses can leak, and a supplied hose shouldn't be lengthened or shortened without a professional. If anything is missing, email us before you start.

1. Confirm a 12" rough-in, a GFCI outlet and a cold water supply in the right spots (see Specs & dimensions).
2. Flush sand and debris out of the supply line, then fit the included shut-off valve.
3. Install the toilet flange and wax ring, remove the temporary drain plug, and lower the toilet straight down onto the flange.
4. Secure it with the floor bolts. Tighten them evenly and gently; overtightening can crack the ceramic.
5. Connect the supply hose, open the valve fully and check every joint for leaks.
6. Plug in. The Heim runs a self-check, beeps once and extends the nozzle.
7. Pair the remote, mount its holder and test every function.
8. Run a bead of silicone sealant around the base (never mortar or cement), then wait 48 hours before regular use.

Choose a spot on the wall near the toilet at a comfortable height. Drill two holes about ¼" (6 mm) wide and 1¼" (32 mm) deep, tap in the drywall anchors, and screw the holder to the wall with the supplied screws. Keep the remote on its holder when you're not using it.

A grounded, GFCI-protected 120 V, 60 Hz outlet rated 10 A or more. The Heim draws up to 980 W (about 9 A), so we recommend a dedicated 15 A or 20 A circuit.

Plug it in directly: no extension cords, adapters, timers or smart plugs. Cutting power on a schedule can trip the toilet's internal thermal protection.

From the installation diagram in the manual:

• Outlet: about 15¾" (40 cm) above the floor and 13¾" (35 cm, ±2") to the side of the toilet's centerline. Use a splash-resistant GFCI outlet.
• Water valve: about 6" (15 cm) above the floor and 10" (25 cm, ±2") to the side of the centerline, on a ½" supply.

Keep the shut-off valve in the same room and easy to reach without tools.

Static water pressure of 14.5–108.8 psi (0.10–0.75 MPa) for the bidet, and at least 2.9 psi for flushing. Most homes fall comfortably in that range. Check your pressure before installing and once a year after.

If flushing is weak, time your supply: if it delivers less than 3 liters (about 0.8 gallon) in 10 seconds, a booster pump is recommended.

No. Connect it to potable cold water only (34–86 °F coming in). The Heim heats wash water instantly as you use it, so there's no tank and no waiting. Never connect it to gray water or any non-potable source.

Yes. Plug in the included power-outage battery box and press its button. When the indicator light comes on, the Heim performs one flush. To flush again, wait for the light to turn off, then press the button again.

Rest the battery box on the lid or another surface instead of letting it hang by its cable, and remove it once power is back. The bidet, heated seat and dryer need mains power. During a long outage, unplug the toilet and close the water valve.

The Heim is WaterSense certified and uses 1.32 gallons per flush (5 L) with a siphonic twin-engine flush — significantly less than older toilets.

1. Unplug the Heim.
2. Press and hold Stop on the remote until all the indicator lights flash together, then let go.
3. Hold the remote close to the toilet and plug the Heim back in. It pairs automatically.
4. Press and hold Stop again to finish.

Two AAA batteries. Match the +/− marks, replace both at once with the same brand and type, and take them out if the remote won't be used for a while.

Yes, with the side knob:

• Press to flush when no one is seated, or to stop a wash or dry cycle.
• Turn counterclockwise while seated for rear wash, or clockwise for front wash. Turn the same way again to switch W-Wash (a wider nozzle sweep) on or off.
• Press while seated to dry. The first press flushes, then starts the warm air.
• Press and hold for 3 seconds while seated to turn automatic flushing on or off.

The foot sensor at the base also opens and closes the lid and seat.

Set your water temperature, seat temperature, air temperature, nozzle position and water pressure. Then press and hold User 1, 2 or 3 on the side panel for 3 seconds to save them. A short press recalls that profile.

Changes you make on the remote only affect the current session; they never overwrite a saved profile.

Hold your foot near the sensor at the front of the base. A short touch (under 3 seconds) opens the lid, then the seat; touch it again when you're done and the Heim closes and flushes. A long touch (over 3 seconds) opens both at once, or closes whatever is open. You'll hear a "ding" each time.

• Auto flush: while seated, hold the side knob for 3 seconds to turn it on or off. When it's on, the Heim flushes after you've been seated for more than 5 seconds and have left for more than 5 seconds.
• Auto close: the lid closes by itself after 90 seconds of inactivity.
• Weekly flush: if the Heim goes unused for 7 days, it flushes once to keep the bowl fresh. To turn this off, hold the flush button on the remote for 3 seconds until you hear two beeps (one beep turns it back on).
• After each flush, the pump needs about 40 seconds before it can flush again.

1. Flip up the top cover, remove the foam liquid cap and pour in Sea Foam (or a similar smart-toilet foam liquid) until you can see it at the fill level.
2. Replace the cap and close the cover.
3. With no one seated, press and hold Sea Foam on the remote for 3 seconds. The Heim beeps, primes the line and foams once.

For automatic foam every time someone sits down: with the seat empty, press the side knob and the Sea Foam button at the same time (one beep means on, two beeps means off).

Never put bleach, chlorine or lemon-based cleaners, toilet cleaner, gel or dishwasher detergent in the reservoir; mixing chemicals can release toxic gas. If you run out of Sea Foam, a neutral kitchen detergent works.

• Night light: press Light to turn it on or off (it turns itself off after 90 seconds). Hold Light for 3 seconds to toggle automatic ambient light, which comes on when someone walks within about 4 feet (1.2 m) and goes off after about 15 seconds.
• Deodorizer: runs automatically while you're seated and switches off 10 seconds after you stand up.
• Power Saving: press it with the seat empty. The knob light and night light turn off and seat heat drops to level 1. Using any function wakes the Heim.
• Mute: hold Power Saving for 3 seconds to silence the beeps; hold again to bring them back.

Unplug the Heim first. Wipe surfaces with a soft, damp cloth, using a diluted neutral detergent for stubborn marks. Don't use acidic or alkaline cleaners, abrasives, bleach, alcohol, thinner or gasoline, and never spray or pour water onto the toilet, remote or plug.

Nozzle: with no one seated, press Wand Cleaning to extend it, wipe it gently with a soft damp cloth or soft toothbrush, then press the button again to retract it. Don't pull or press hard on the nozzle. Between cleanings, UV light sterilizes the nozzle for about 3 minutes after every wash, and a sterile water spray runs for 10 seconds after each flush.

Clean the water filter whenever pressure drops noticeably, and replace it every 6 months:

1. Close the shut-off valve (otherwise water will spray out).
2. Unscrew the filter cover with a flathead screwdriver and pull the filter out.
3. Rinse it with water or brush it with a toothbrush. No cleaning agents, and don't squeeze it.
4. Reinstall it, open the valve and check for leaks.

Replace the deodorizer cartridge after 2 years. Don't wash it with water; email us for a replacement.

1. Close the shut-off valve.
2. Press Flush to drain the water from the ceramic tank.
3. Unplug the toilet.
4. Unscrew the filter from the valve outlet and drain the water from the filter and hose.

Never let the Heim sit below 32 °F (0 °C) with water inside. Before using it again, reconnect everything, check for leaks and do a quick test run.

The Kalm is 27⅜" (695 mm) deep, from the finished wall to the front of the seat. It needs a rough-in of at least 12" (305 mm), measured from the finished wall (not the baseboard) to the center of the drain.

The Kalm is 19¼" (490 mm) tall with the lid closed, with a 15¾" (400 mm) seat height. With the lid fully open it reaches 41" (1,040 mm), so check the clearance under any shelf, cabinet or window sill behind the toilet.

We recommend a licensed plumber, plus an electrician if you need a new outlet. If you're installing it yourself, read the manual first, follow your local codes, and have a second person help lift the toilet.

You'll need a drill, caulk gun, Teflon tape, knife, wrenches, assorted screwdrivers, a tape measure and a measuring cup.

Use only the new hoses and parts supplied; reusing old hoses can cause leaks.

1. Mark the drain centerline. Install the included angle valve at least 11¾" (300 mm) to the side of the centerline and about 8¼" (210 mm) above the floor, using Teflon tape. Open it for 2 minutes to flush debris out of the line.
2. Line up the cardboard template with the drain and trace its outline on the floor.
3. Fit the wax ring and lower the toilet onto the drain, inside the outline.
4. Seal the base with silicone sealant (never cement or mortar).
5. Connect the cleaning hose and flush hose to the angle valve and filter, and tighten.
6. Load the spare battery box with 10 AA batteries and connect its cable.
7. Open the angle valve fully (counterclockwise) and check every connection for leaks.
8. Plug in, pressing RESET if your plug has one. The night light comes on and the Kalm ticks as it self-checks; a second tick means it's ready.

The Kalm's angle valve has a built-in filter that keeps sand and debris out of the toilet and bidet waterways. A valve without a filter can lead to blockages. If you're replacing an existing valve, have a plumber do it.

• Power: a grounded, GFCI-protected 120 V, 60 Hz outlet, placed where it won't get splashed. Plug in directly: no extension cords or power strips, and no other appliances on the same outlet.
• Water: potable cold tap water at 11.6–116 psi static (0.08–0.8 MPa) and 41–104 °F. Don't connect it to a water heater outlet.

The Kalm uses a jet-siphon dual flush: 4 L (1.06 gal) for a half flush and 6 L (1.59 gal) for a full flush. On the remote, a short press of Flush gives a half flush and a long press gives a full flush.

Power outage: with the spare battery box connected and loaded with 10 AA batteries, press and hold the side button to flush.

Water outage: pour about 2 gallons (7.5 L) of water into the bowl to flush it. Pour steadily and watch for overflow.

1. Unplug the Kalm.
2. Press and hold Front Wash on the remote until the five indicator lights flash together.
3. Plug the Kalm back in with the remote nearby. It pairs automatically.
4. Press Stop, or wait about 10 seconds. The lights stop flashing when pairing is complete.

The remote takes 2 AAA alkaline batteries. Match the +/− marks and don't mix old and new batteries.

To mount the holder, mark its two holes, drill with a ¼" (6 mm) bit about 1⅜" (35 mm) deep, tap in the anchors and screw the holder to the wall. If your holder has an adhesive pad instead, clean and dry the wall, peel the backing and press it on level.

Yes. Press and hold Water Temp and Wind Temp together to switch the display between °F and °C.

When you walk up, the lid opens by itself, and it closes about 60 seconds after you leave. To turn this on or off, hold Night Light and Open/Close Seat together (one beep means on, two beeps means off).

To change how far away it senses you, hold Stop and Seat Temp: one beep is short range (about 20"), two is medium (about 28", the default) and three is long range (about 39").

The foot sensor at the base flips up the lid, then the seat. Activate it again when you're done and the Kalm closes and flushes.

• Flush when you stand up: hold Flush and Rear Wash together. When it's on, the Kalm flushes about 5 seconds after you leave the seat.
• Flush when the lid closes: hold Water Pressure + and Nozzle Position ▲ together.

After any flush, the tank needs about 45 seconds to refill. Presses during that time get an "invalid" tone.

1. Press down the reservoir plug; when it pops up, lift it out.
2. Slowly pour in a foaming agent made for smart toilets, up to 480 ml (16 fl oz).
3. Put the plug back and press it down to close.

Long-press Dryer to lay down a foam shield. To foam automatically every time you sit, hold Water Temp and Dryer together. Holding Water Temp alone draws foam liquid into the line, which helps after a refill.

• Rear or Front Wash: press once to start; press again for oscillating massage.
• Bubble Wash: short press for bubble wash; long press for pulse massage.
• While washing: 5 water pressure levels, 5 nozzle positions, and water temperature from off up to 102 °F.
• Pre-wetting: hold Rear Wash to turn bowl pre-wetting on or off.
• Dryer: flushes first, then dries, with air from off up to 122 °F. Press Stop to end any function.

• ECO mode (off by default): hold Stop. Seat heat drops to level 1 while no one is seated and returns to normal when someone sits.
• Mute: hold Stop and Dryer together to silence the beeps.
• Standby: with no one seated, hold the side Flush/Stop button. The night light turns off until you press any button.
• Night light: press to switch between auto (on while the lid is open), on and off. Hold to turn the display and ambient lights on or off.
• Auto temperature: hold Seat Temp to let the Kalm set seat, air and water temperature from the room temperature.

Unplug the toilet, wipe it with a soft damp cloth, let it dry, then plug it back in. Don't use thinner, gasoline, detergent, insecticide, toilet cleaner or hard brushes, and never pour water on the toilet or plug.

Nozzle: hold Stop and Rear Wash together for 3 seconds to extend it, wipe it with a soft cloth or soft brush, then press Stop to retract it. For an automatic rinse, hold Stop and Front Wash. The nozzle is also UV-sterilized for about 3 minutes, starting 30 seconds after you leave the seat.

1. Close the angle valve.
2. Turn the filter counterclockwise to remove the screen.
3. Rinse the screen clean, reinstall it and open the valve.

Clean it whenever water pressure drops.

1. Unplug the toilet.
2. Close the angle valve, unscrew the hose from it, drain the water from the line, and reconnect it.

Don't use the Kalm below 32 °F (0 °C). If it could freeze, the manual recommends adding antifreeze to the water left in the bowl. If the toilet comes indoors from the cold, let it sit for 2 hours before plugging it in.
